What are some of your favorite skincare tips?

Keep it simple! My number one non-negotiable is to be sure to apply sunscreen to your face, neck, and backs of hands every morning before you start your day. After that, a good vitamin C serum and a retinoid are both great additions to start your own skincare regimen! Also, whenever you’re out in the bright Charleston sun, throw on a cute hat for extra protection!

What are some common misconceptions about skincare you’d like to see changed?

Many young women and men think they’re too young to have to “worry” about taking care of their skin. I say it’s never too early to start preventing future problems when it comes to your skin! It doesn’t have to be a 10-step ordeal every day. Find those few products that work for you and stick with them!

What inspired you to choose dermatology as a career path?

I have been blessed to have some amazing mentors throughout my journey of becoming a PA. These mentors showed me how special the field of dermatology really is. Through spending time with them, I discovered that dermatology gives me the opportunity to treat patients of all ages, from infants to adults, and allows me to educate them on practical ways to manage and prevent diseases of the skin. There is never a dull moment!

What is your favorite thing about working in the field of dermatology?

A unique aspect of dermatology is that most of the disorders patients present with are visible. My favorite thing about working in dermatology is seeing a patient’s confidence boost when a treatment successfully helps their skin condition. It’s so fulfilling to hear when a patient is now able to confidently interview for that new job or wear short sleeves in the summer! It gives me so much joy!

What do you love most about living in Charleston?

Anyone that has ever lived in Charleston knows that it is such a special place. The people are kind, the weather is beautiful, there is always something active to do outdoors. I could go on and on! I am so thankful to be serving such an amazing community!

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work I love to spend time with my husband, Lehe, and our dog, TJ. We enjoy traveling and diving whenever we have the chance. If we aren’t traveling, you can find me trying out new recipes, meeting my girlfriends for book club, or doing anything outdoors! Lehe and I both attend and actively serve at St. Michael’s Church downtown, and we also have a heart for international missions so you can find us serving overseas at some point during the year!
