Great skin care is about more than treating a condition — it’s about feeling confident in your own skin. This summer, Charleston Dermatology is thrilled to welcome a board-certified dermatologist who believes exactly that.

Dr. Megan Hohenberger is joining our team and will be seeing patients at our Mount Pleasant and Berkeley Countylocations beginning this summer. Whether you’ve been looking for a new dermatologist or have been waiting to address a skin concern, now is a great time to connect with a provider who truly puts patients first.

About Dr. Megan Hohenberger

Dr. Hohenberger is a board-certified dermatologist with training in both medical and surgical skin care. She was born and raised in the Carolinas, so she knows this region, the climate, the lifestyle, and what it means to care for skin in the Lowcountry.

She graduated summa cum laude from Clemson University’s Calhoun Honors College before earning her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) right here in Charleston. At MUSC, she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, a national honor society that recognizes the top medical students in the country.

After medical school, Dr. Hohenberger completed her internship in Chicago and her dermatology residency at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She brings that well-rounded, nationally trained perspective back home to South Carolina.

Why Dermatology?

For Dr. Hohenberger, the answer is personal. She was drawn to dermatology because of its visual nature and the ability to see a problem, treat it, and watch a patient’s confidence grow as a result. That direct connection between care and outcome is what keeps her passionate about the work.

She takes a collaborative, evidence-based approach, meaning she’ll listen to your concerns, explain your options clearly, and work with you to find the right path forward. No rushing. No guesswork. Just thoughtful, personalized care.

When Should You See a Dermatologist?

You don’t have to wait until something is seriously wrong to see a dermatologist. In fact, regular skin checks can make a real difference in catching issues early, when they’re most treatable. Consider scheduling a visit if you:

  • Notice a new mole or one that has changed in size, shape, or color
  • Have a chronic skin condition that isn’t well-controlled
  • Are dealing with persistent acne, rashes, or unexplained skin changes
  • Haven’t had a full-body skin exam in a year or more

When in doubt, it’s always okay to ask. Your skin is your body’s largest organ, it deserves attention.

A Little More About Dr. Hohenberger

Outside the clinic, Dr. Hohenberger is a true Lowcountry fit. She loves spending time with her husband, their daughter Charlotte, and their two cats. On weekends, you might find her out on the water, exploring new restaurants, or planning the next travel adventure.

She’s home, and she’s ready to take care of you.
