We are so excited to share that we will be expanding our presence within the tri-county area to better serve the rapidly growing Mount Pleasant community. As one of the fastest growing areas, Mount Pleasant is now the third largest city in the greater Charleston metropolitan area, with more than 70,000 residents and growing. Additionally, according to Prevention, South Carolina is one of the top 20 states that has the highest concentration of people with skin cancer.
“The team at Charleston Dermatology is committed to providing the best possible dermatology health care to residents who have lived here for years, as well as those who are moving from outside the area and experiencing coastal living for the first time,” said Lee Yarborough, MD.
Along with opening the new office, we’re adding a new physician and physician’s assistant to our team! Dr. Mackenzie Gwynne is our practice’s first female doctor. She completed her residency at West Virginia University, where she served as Chief Resident in the Department of Dermatology. Dr. Gwynne also has her Atrium Baccalaureatus in Biology from the College of Charleston and Medical Degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Gwynne was born and raised in Morgantown, West Virginia. She and her husband, Dr. Neill Tuten, enjoy boating, spending time with family and taking their dog, Charlie, to the beach.
Sarah Fender is also joining to support the medical team as the practice continues to grow. Sarah is a board-certified physician assistant with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the College of Charleston and a Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from MUSC. Sarah was born and raised in Irmo, South Carolina. Sarah and her husband, Lehe, are recently married and they enjoy traveling, scuba diving, mission trips and adventures with their dog, TJ.
This new location will replace our current Mount Pleasant satellite office on Chuck Dawley Blvd. and will offer Mohs surgery, widely considered the most effective technique for treating the most common kinds of skin cancer, along with comprehensive medical, surgical and cosmetic services.
Our new Park West location can be found in North Mount Pleasant at 1090 Park West Blvd., Suite 101 this August.
