What causes rashes?
There are several different types of rashes that you may experience. Often, rashes are not life-threatening, however, there are some rashes that are very concerning. Your rash could be a sign of common skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, or allergic contact dermatitis or it could be a sign of something more serious. If you have a new rash that is not resolving on its own, be sure to call and make an appointment with one of our providers.
How do I know what is causing my rash?
There are several different causes for different rashes. It is often hard to tell on your own what is causing your rash. Your dermatology provider may decide to perform or order testing such as a skin scraping, skin biopsy, or blood work to gain more information about what could be causing your rash.
What might my dermatology provider do to treat my rash?
Thankfully, there are several different options available when it comes to treating rashes. Once your dermatology provider discovers what is causing your rash, they will formulate a treatment plan for you. That treatment plan may include topical steroids, oral medication, or even injectable medication. If you have a new rash, call us to make an appointment with one of our providers!
