Anti-Aging Tips

Anti-aging is a major reason folks invest in skincare and work with their dermatologist. While there’s no fountain of youth that will magically eliminate all your wrinkles, there are certainly steps you can take to be proactive when it comes to aging.

Protection
Sun protection is the basis of all good skincare! We know that exposure to the sun makes our skin age more quickly, so it’s imperative to lather on the sunscreen and cover up with hats and moisture-wicking long-sleeved clothing. Don’t get us started on indoor tanning! We know you know better!

Diet
Make sure you get enough fruits and vegetables, lean proteins and healthy fats in your diet to maintain a clear and glowing complexion and fight off wrinkles. Blueberries, nuts, spinach, green tea, avocado, salmon, oranges and dark chocolate are all great anti-aging diet staples.

Routine
It’s important to moisturize daily and wash thoroughly twice daily to remove dirt and grime. Maintaining a regular routine will help reduce fine lines and wrinkles and retain the firmness of your skin.

Healthy Choices
Along with choosing to include healthy diet choices, it’s just as important to exclude unhealthy choices, like smoking, tanning or overindulging in alcohol. These activities will dry your skin out fast, leading to dull, dry skin with premature lines and wrinkles and a leathery texture. Not worth it!

Relax
Stress can have an impact on many aspects of your health, including that of your skin. Sleep can reduce the effects of stress, plus it gives your skin cells time to refresh and renew, so it’s important to get those eight hours to recharge.
